How Bear River found us…
When? late fall 2005
Where? Madoc, Ontario
How? Well,…….
One evening after the kids went to bed I began to dream (again) about how I could live a more peaceful, creative, authentic existence. I sat down at my computer with a cup of tea and “escaped” into the world of online real estate listings. I tripped over a tiny, and very affordable, restaurant for sale in what was described as “the unique artists village of Bear River, Nova Scotia”. Not altogether convinced that the restaurant business was the answer but intrigued by the thought of a real live artists village I dug futher. Typing “Bear River, Nova Scotia” into the search engine that evening changed the course of my life. What that search revealed was a picture of the most delightful, colourful little village I’d ever laid eyes on. I gasped. It was beautiful, it was familiar, it was home.
We moved into our new old Sea Captain’s house in June 2007. The story of how this special house acquired us is one we’ll have to share face to face during one of your Von Koeke House stays.
And the restaurant? Well, funny thing about that. The real estate agent refused to show it to us for reasons undisclosed. It’s still on the market if anyone’s looking for a change……….
